-Each team will be allowed a maximum of 2 spectators per athlete suited up:
-Passes will be handed out to the athletes and they give them out to whomever they chose.
-These passes are the responsibility of each individual.
-These passes are needed to get into all conference home and away games.
Good Morning West Harrison!
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday I wanted to send out a message to provide some clarification. We have had some cases of COVID, but the percentage of positive cases is low. We have also had some quarantines related to school but have had no confirmed cases of transmission take place at school. In reality, school seems to be one of the safest places to be in regards to COVID.
As most of you know, the Governor issued a proclamation this week that essentially shut down junior high and youth activities until December 10th and limited attendance at high school activities to two guests per participant. The Governor mentioned re-evaluating things next week.
At West Harrison, our plan continues to be to provide face-to-face instruction to students unless the Governor orders schools to be closed, the IDPH or county health advise that closing schools is necessary, or we have a situation where we do not have enough healthy staff to provide services for students. Barring one of these three things happening, we plan to continue to stay open.
With that said we all know that things can change quickly so we are doing our best to be prepared. You may be hearing that staff are practicing virtual learning with kids at school, talking about scheduling, preparing to send materials home, and discussing how we would provide meals. If you would like to see our proposed virtual learning schedules and information, here is our Virtual Learning page.
All of these things are happening, not because we plan to close the school, but so we are ready in the event closing becomes necessary at some point. We discussed sending materials home over Thanksgiving with our elementary students in order to evaluate any issues that may occur. We decided not to do so.
Please review your plans for your children if the school were moved to 100% virtual instruction. Take some time to review the Virtual School page. Again, this is all being done to be prepared. It is our hope that it will never be necessary to use any it.
I hope this helps clarify our plans for all of you. It continues to be the intent of West Harrison to have face-to-face instruction take place if at all possible.
Thanks and have a great Thanksgiving!

Due to the governor's recent mandate all JH sports and extra curricular activities are suspended until at least Dec. 11th. Tonight's game at West Monona is canceled.
The winter scrimmage scheduled for Nov. 19th and the Pride Challenge scrimmage scheduled for Nov. 20th have been canceled.
Due to the governor's recent mandates Little Hawks wrestling is canceled for tonight and suspended until at least Dec. 11th.
Good Afternoon West Harrison Families!
West Harrison Community Schools has seen an increase in Covid-19 related cases over the last week. As of today we have forty students or staff quarantining due to direct contact (11.4%) and fifteen students or staff (4.3%) that have tested positive, are awaiting test results, or awaiting direction from their medical provider. We have not had any confirmed cases of spread at school but have had quarantines take place because of contact with individuals who later received a positive test result. The majority of our positive cases and quarantines are related to exposure with family and work contacts.
As cases in the area rise, it is critical that everyone does their part in taking the appropriate precautions to limit the spread of Covid-19. We need your help if we are going to be able to stay in school including: having kids that are symptomatic stay home, wear masks, and wash hands frequently.
The Board and staff are committed to continuing face to face learning if at all possible and there are no immediate plans to move to virtual learning. That said, things can change quickly with this pandemic and we would encourage everyone to review your contingency plan for where your children would go should we reach a point where we have to shift to 100% virtual learning.
We greatly appreciate all your flexibility and support!

Due to Governor Reynold's public measures, spectators will be limited at all West Harrison events until at least Nov. 30th. We are allowed two spectators per athlete. Passes have been handed out to each athlete and these are needed to get into all games- home and away. Masks are also required at all events.
Previously, we let you know that meals would be free through December, but now, we have been approved to offer free meals until the end of May. These meals are convenient, safe and nutritious. Support our school meals program while saving your family time and money. There is still a cost for doubles and extras, but every student can have free breakfast and lunch every day.
West Harrison will be canceling school today, November 10, due to a portion of our district remaining in an ice storm warning. Stay safe and we will see everyone tomorrow! ❄️☃️🌬
West Harrison will be starting two hours late this morning. Tuesday, November 10th.
